Operator’s Licence and CPC help and advice

For operators’ licence and operator’s licence management help and advice, OPLAS Transport Consultants can meet all your needs.

We’ve been working in transport consultancy for many years. We’re experienced in working with VOSA Public Inquiries, transport law, and contractual law.

So whether you need an operator’s licence yourself, a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) to manage others with an operator licence, or as a dangerous goods safety adviser (DGSA) – or have any other consultancy requirements with the above – we’re here to help.

Who needs an operator’s licence?

You need an operator licence for certain to carry goods on certain types of road vehicles, even if it’s just for one day. More information can be found on the relevant pages of our website, or by contacting OPLAS Transport Consultants directly.

Employers of people who need operators’ licences are also required to have at least one person – usually, but not necessarily, a manager – with a CPC certificate.

What’s more, for the transport of certain cargos the extensive Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2009 set out a further legal framework that requires the appointment of a DGSA. The DGSA must have the training and knowledge to deal with the safe transport of goods such as explosives and gases.

How can OPLAS help you meet the legal requirements?

The penalties for not meeting DGSA requirements, either after an incident or in a road check, include fines ranging from £1,500 to £15,000. Can you afford not to comply with the regulations?

If you hold an operator’s licence, or you manage people with operators’ licence requirements, we can help you with DGSA compliance.

Operators’ Licence legislation and Public Inquiries

If you hold an operator’s licence, or you manage people who do, you could also find yourself summoned to appear at a VOSA public inquiry. This summons could come for many reasons.

This could lead to the loss of your operating licence at worst; at best it’s a stressful, time-consuming and potentially expensive experience. As experts in all aspects of operator licensing legislation and transport law, OPLAS is ideally placed to help you deal with – or, even better, avoid – the hassle of a Public Inquiry.

Please browse our website for more information on any of the above – and feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding all transport consultancy matters including DGSA, CPC and the operators’ licence.
